Warwick Taylor Landscapes has completed a major extension to Pinewoods Holiday Park in Wells Next The Sea on the Norfolk coast using 17,000 sqm of hardwearing turf from Harrowden Turf.
The specialist contractor was engaged by Walker Construction Services Ltd on behalf of the Holkham Estate to supply and install of 3,500sqm of Rite-Pave eco-grid in parking areas, supply 2,000 tonnes of soil and lay 17,000sqm of turf. In addition it had to deliver 20,000sqm of amenity wildflower seeding, 7000sqm of bark mulching, plant 600 trees and 2,500 native whips.
The improvements were made to which was looking for an eco-friendly and biodiverse 116 pitch extension to its facility, to enable it to keep its David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award.
Warwick Taylor Landscapes director Chris Taylor explained why Harrowden Turf was selected for landscaping around the holiday homes and for the amenity areas.
“RTF turf was originally specified for this project, however, when it came to placing orders, we were unable to find a supplier with sufficient stock. Having worked with Harrowden Turf in the past, I approached them for advice.
After discussions with Harrowden’s technical team and the landscape architect it was agreed to use their premium grade turf. The client has a strong philosophy of using local suppliers wherever possible and Harrowden have plenty of experience of supplying turf for large projects.”
Warwick Taylor said challenges on the project included the winter weather and the proximity to the sea with excavations affected by tidal ingress of water.
